Australian contralto [but her first record credits her as a Mezzo-Soprano] (b. Sydney 13 Dec., 1890 - d. Hammondville, NSW 14 Sept., 1975) Learnt elocution & dancing from an early age and appeared on stage in New Zealand billed as "The Baby Baritone". At age six appeared in "Floradora" and was a clog dancer and whistler in the 1900 production of "The Casino Girl". Joined JCW for Gilbert & Sullivan roles, and later appeared on the Tivoli circuit. Went to Paris in 1910 for 18 months study, and then gave concerts in London with conductors Edward Elgar & Hamilton Harty. Continued stage activity in England and gave many concerts during WWI. Toured with Peter Dawson and Mark Hambourg and gave a Royal Command performance with Dame Clara Butt. Returned to Australia in 1917 for work in revues & musicals. Toured in Asia and teaching in Sydney between Fullers stage appearances. Many radio broadcasts from 1927 onwards. Worked with Royal Philharmonic Society of Sydney in 1936 and joined the A.B.C. in 1937. Semi-retired from 1941, but still gave occasional concerts for servicemen and the Red Cross.
