Darren Workman

Darren Workman is a trombone player with the Band of Mid-America. Originally from Thomasville, North Carolina, Airman Workman holds degrees from Appalachian State University and The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to enlistment, Airman Workman served as Assistant Professor of Trombone at Texas Lutheran University and Adjunct Lecturer of Trombone at Texas A&M - Kingsville. He also held a private studio of twenty-six middle and high school students. Airman Workman has won prestigious awards such as first place in the Eastern Trombone Workshop's Division III National Bass Trombone Solo Competition and the Big 12 Trombone Conference Solo Competition. As a freelance musician, Airman Workman has performed with: The Houston Symphony, The San Antonio Symphony, The Austin Symphony, The Round Rock Symphony, The Mid-Texas Symphony, The Brazos Valley Symphony, and the award winning University of Texas Trombone Choir. His primary teachers are Dr. Nathaniel Brickens, Dr. Harold McKinney, John Kitzman, and Allen Barnhill. Airman Workman holds professional memberships with the International Trombone Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
