Born June 30, 1925 Died February 2, 2006 Helen Miller, songwriter and producer who started out in the late 1940s writing with fellow female songwriter Fay Whitman Manus. She left the business to raise her kids and in the early 1960s when she met Don Kirshner, she became the oldest of the group of Aldon songwriters. She had hits with Howard Greenfield and with lyricist Roger Atkins. Helen had a passion for R&B. She made it to Broadway in 1971 with "Inner City" with her R&B-influenced score with lyrics by poet Eve Merriam. Co-writer (with Fay Whitman) of "Am I Asking Too Much" by Dinah Washintgon, which hit #1 on the U.S. R&B charts in 1948. With Greenfield, she had "Foolish Little Girl" by The Shirelles, which hit #9 R&B in the U.S. and #38 in the U.K. in 1963. She had an additional 26 songs that she wrote or co-wrote that made the charts.
