Mehdi Behbudi

Mehdi Behbudi is a sound-artist and performer from Tehran. He started working on computer music in 1999, and he directed a large portion of his focus on live performances for indoors and open-spaces. He studied composition in the conservatory of music in Tehran, while he studied mathematics, physics and electronics on his own. He has worked on the performance of composers like Alvin Lucier, James Tony, John Cage, Nader Mashayekhi, Peter Ablinger and George Nosbamer in addition to a number of performances and installations that he has produced. He has been working as a performer and sound-artist in more than hundred of audio and visual projects in different cities of Iran, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greek and United States. He founded “Radical Tehran '' in 2012, and has been working as a mentor for the Sonic Explorers project which is a project in the Beethoven Foundation in Bon, Germany since then. In his works, he works with the sound not as only an audible phenomenon, with certain physical characteristics, he uses them as the artistic-material in the terms of socio-ethical aspects.
