Hervé Brisse was a french tuba player and a conductor. From 1978 to his death in February 2020, he was the tuba soloist of the Orchestre National de Lille (ONL). From 1985 to 2005, he pursued a chamber musician career with the brass quintets Jean-Baptiste Arban and Magnifica. Since 2006 he conducted the Orchestre d'Harmonie de Lille-Fives (OHLF). Hervé Brisse was a professor at the Roubaix conservatory since 1985, and he teached at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSM) from 1995 to 2002. He was producer and animator of the weekly radio program "Les Secrets d'Éole" dedicated to wind instruments on the french national radio France Musique. He was also Artistic director of thematic collection for the TV channel France 3. Since its creation in 2004, following the city of Lille designation as "European Capital of Culture", he was artistic consultant for the cultural association Lille3000. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Confédération Musicale de France (CMF), the only federation in France to bring together teaching and amateur musical practice. As a musician, Hervé Brisse won many international prizes, and as a citizen who has rendered service to his country he was awarded by the french Minister of Culture "Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" (Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters), and he was elevated by the President of the Republic to the rank of "Chevalier dans l'Ordre National du Mérite" (Knight in the National Order of Merit), two high distinctions in France, and he posthumously received the Gold Medal of the city of Lille.
