A barbershop quartet composed of Roy Frisby, Frank Thorne, Jimmy Doyle (6), and Herman Struble. In October 1941, Thorne invited Frisby, Doyle, and Herman Struble to his home for dinner, and the Elastic Four was organized that night with Frisby singing lead. The quartet rehearsed about eight hours a week in 1942 to prepare for that year's national Barber Shop Quartet contest in Grand Rapids, Michigan, hosted by the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America. The Elastic Four was the Barbershop Harmony Society's 1942 International Quartet Champion.
