The New Russia State Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1990 by a decree of the Russian government. Initially, it was called the State Symphony Orchestra for Children and Youth of the Ministry of Education of the RSFSR / Russian Federation (1990-1993). The State Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation (1993-1994). Symphony Orchestra "Young Russia" = Симфонический Оркестр "Молодая Россия" (1994-2002). From 1994 until 2002 the orchestra was led by the People's Artist of Russia Mark Gorenstein. Since 2002, the artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra is Yuri Bashmet.
