Betsi Miller

Betsi Miller was born in Boise, Idaho, US on 2 September 1964. She moved to Germany at twelve as her mother got a teaching job abroad with the US Government. She got introduced to the band Propaganda through Wolfgang Platz, who was Betsi’s boyfriend at the time. His friend, Axel Hütte (photographer in Düsseldorf) was a friend of Susanne Freytag in Propaganda. Axel Hütte spotted her singing in a Munich night club where she waitressed by day. Her phone number was passed on to Susanne who went to meet her. Susanne reported back to the band and asked Betsi to come for an audition. Propaganda sent her a tape of Duel, Murder Of Love and p:Machinery off the first LP. The audition tape was just playback without vocals, Propaganda expected Betsi to sing over it. After hearing Claudia Brücken's voice, she didn't think it was right to sing as close to the album as possible, but sang in her own style instead. Betsi won the audition, relocated from Munich to Düsseldorf within two days and the new line-up of Propaganda was complete. During the production of [m67197], she got together with Chris Hughes and later married him. After leaving Propaganda, she ran a spa in Bath between 2003-2018.
