South African-born musician, and a soloist on the Hammond organ. Best-known as a member of Lord Rockingham's XI. Wainer first came to the attention of UK television audiences as a regular in the 1950s TV magazine, 'Lunchbox', with Noele Gordon. She subsequently featured as a session musician on the programme 'Oh Boy!' (one of the first British series to regularly feature rock 'n' roll), with Lord Rockingham's XI, who were a 'scratch' band led by Harry Robinson and included Benny Green and Red Price. Their single, 'Hoots Mon', was number one on the UK chart in 1958. In 1962, she married drummer Don Storer, with whom she had appeared regularly as a duo during the 1960s, and on a German television series called Beat! Beat! Beat! (1966-67). Wainer released several solo albums and four singles, none of which made it onto the UK charts. Born: 2nd March 1935, in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
