Gabriele Bonolis

Conductor, violoncellist, composer. Recently winner of “Premio Internazionale Ennio Morricone per la Pace” created by Marcello Filotei, Gabriele Bonolis is a particularly versatile conductor. His operatic and symphonic répertoire ranges from the 18th and 19th centuries to contemporary music. Not to mention his numerous experiences in the field of music for theatre and cinema. He has conducted: Orchestra of the Teatro dell’ Opera of Rome, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale of Rai (Italian television), Orchestra della Toscana, Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese , Orchestra Metropolitana of Bari, I Solisti Aquilani, Icarus Ensemble, Orchestra of Rome and Lazio , Teatro Lirico of Cagliari Orchestra (Sardinia), Ente Concerti Marialisa de Carolis of Sassari (Sardinia), Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi (Milan), Gruppo Musica d’Oggi, Roma Sinfonietta, with soloists of the stature of Luis Bacalov, Elizabeth Norberg Schulz, Andrea Bacchetti, Maurizio Zanini, Charlie Siem. As a violoncellist he has performed in Italy, Canada, Norway, France, Marocco, Brazil, Scotland, Japan and the United States. He has collaborated frequently with musical institutions such as: Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Accademia Chigiana (Siena), Teatro delle Muse Foundation (Ancona), Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo, Musica per Roma, Royal Opera House of Muscat (Oman), Festival MITO, Ruhrtriennale, Dresden Semperoper, Reate Festival and the Teatro Marrucino alongside of such artists as Roman Vlad , Bruno Bartoletti, Mirella Freni, Ennio Morricone and Hans Werner Henze with whom he collaborated on the lyric operas Gogo no eiko (Festival of Two Worlds 2010) and Gisela! (Ruhrtriennale 2010 and Semperoper 2010 ) In 2015 the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona chooses him to conduct Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme with the FORM. That same year he becomes the first musician to conduct a symphonic concert in the various stations of Rome’s new metro C underground at the head of the Teatro dell’Opera of Roma Orchestra. This event, entitled “WE DID NOT CRY – Coming out from the ghetto: the artists of Terezin speak to our time“, produced by the SHE LIVES Association, created strong media interest and was broadcast live nationally on Rai Radio 3. During the last two years, Gabriele has had some important debuts : Un’infinita primavera attendo (lyric opera ; libretto by Sandro Cappelletto and music by Daniele Carnini) – Accademia Filarmonica Romana; Operagalla (Lyric Gala for Opera Rogaland – Stavanger, Norway); Il colore del sole (lyric opera – libretto by Andrea Camilleri and music by Lucio Gregoretti) – XVII Festival Pergolesi Spontini and Teatro Pavarotti Modena; I due timidi e La notte di un nevrastenico di Nino Rota – Reate Festival; Una serata con Ennio Morricone – I.U.C. di Roma. In January 2018 the Accademia di Santa Cecilia invites him to conduct Anna e Zef (libretto by Ad de Bont, music by Monique Krüs, Cesare Scarton director) a lyric opera about Anna Frank; in February Bonolis is at the Opera Rogaland (Norvegia) with La Bohème by Puccini and Die Fledermaus by J.Strauss. In June he makes his debut of La buona figliola (La Cecchina) by Niccolò Piccinni by (libretto by Carlo Goldoni). Winner of the 2003 Mario Nascimbene Awards ( president, Roman Vlad ), a music competition for film composition, Gabriele Bonolis is full professor of Chamber Music at the Conservatory ‘N. Sala‘ in Benevento (Campania Region), Italy.
