Edgar Moncada, born in Tulua (Valle del Cauca) , was a Colombian radio announcer and newsreader for the most important Salsa radio Stations In Cali during the 80s and 90s, during the boom of Salsa Orchestras in the city. Unfortunately, he died tragically murdered in his hotel room in New York in February 4, 1999, when he came back from a show in a New York Night club. A hitman was waiting for him at his home and shot him in the dark, just months after he launched his only Musical production, "La Rumba del Planeta" in 1990 and he was opening doors for his music with the track “ERES”. By 1989 he decided to try fortune recording his album, and using his own resources and collecting money from friends. He established a close friendship with Santiago "Santi" Ceron, who visited the City regularly for Shows and specifically by that year, Santiago was in Colombia recording his album "Desde Santiago de Cali", for "Discos Fuentes". So, using this contact, Edgar visit New York by May, 1989 to record his dreamed album with Santiago Ceron's Orchestra. The recording was do it at "Dialen Productions" studio, property of the famous musician and trumpet man, Luis "Perico" Ortiz and under his musical direction and with Ramón Orlando Valoy in the Piano, with “Perico” in the Trumpet and keyboards and other talented musicians, the final product was really a well elaborated product. The album was well received in Cali and gave him some international recognition, and particularly the tracks "ERES (Edgar Moncada)" and "SILOE (James Moncada)" had a heavy radio rotation in the Salsa Stations in Cali.. Almost all the tracks are Edgar's compositions and some others, from his brother James Moncada. SILOE is dedicated to the "Barrio" located in the highs that surronf the city of Cali, a dangerous and poverty depressed community by that time, kind of Ghetto area. Santiago Ceron made a cover of "ERES" (A mi Manera, Sabroso Records, 1991) under musical direction of Ramon Rodriguez and the same original pianist, Ramon Orlando Valoy.
