Rock'n'roll drummer from St. Louis, MO. South city drummer Scott "Doc Detroit" Lasser has been steadily active in the local music scene since moving to St. Louis in 2001. Lasser first gained local visibilty as a member of the Merseybeat/freakbeat revival trio Long John Thomas and the Duffs (where he performed under the name "Nigel X"). He left the group in early 2007 to form his own band, The 75s, which enjoyed a successful run until 2010. Before joining the Duffs, he played in The Incisions, a south city punk band which included KDHX DJs Jason and Ann Rerun; they played a handful of gigs before disbanding in 2003. In February 2006, Lasser formed The Downcasts, a short-lived garage project that included former members of The Honkeys, Thee Lordly Serpents, ResistAll, and The Argonauts. After the Downcasts split up, he established the power pop trio The 75s. In the mid-1990s, Lasser played drums for The Silverswords, a surf/trash band out of San Francisco. From 2006-07, he produced The Drowning Pool, an all-surf/instrumental rock n' roll podcast that ran on GaragePunk.com Scott Lasser is a native of Detroit, Michigan, and is a 1997 graduate of the University of San Francisco. In the early to mid-1990s, he was a sports reporter and assistant sports producer for the flagship radio stations of the Oakland Athletics and San Jose Sharks. During his senior year of college, Lasser worked as the jazz and vocals buyer for the Tower Records in Concord, CA. He moved to St. Louis in 2001 after being honorably discharged from the US Navy. For much of 2007, he received lessons from nationally known drum instructor and jazz drummer Kevin Gianino.
