Twahili Mohamed

Originally from Zanzibar, Twahir was a saxophone player and founding member of International Orchestra Safari Sound in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In 1984 he migrated to Nairobi where he performed with Orchestra Virunga. He often featured as a session musician in the Nairobi recording scene and can be heard on albums for many different groups. He was a co-founder of the group Bora Bora Sounds (with Shanbani Dogo Dogo in 1994) and later went on to form Golden Sounds Band. In 2003, he started Keuta Band but that effort was cut short by his death on January 29, 2004 at the age of 53.
