Phil Tweed is a highly accomplished, award winning singer/songwriter, producer and all round musician. His live recording of his own band (Aband’n Phil) with all original material has been the main catalyst to winning his recent awards. The Soapbox Café Since 2002 , Phil has been the coordinator for the Soapbox Café, a highly respected live music venue in Newcastle, Australia. Running on a monthly basis, the Soapbox has been host to some of the most incredible musicians and singers – focusing mainly on jazz, funk and R&B. The Soapbox Café is a non profit venue, helping to raise funds for LifeShapers Family Services – a well deserving and vital charity work that works with underprivileged and disadvantaged people in the Newcastle CBD. In 2003, the Soapbox Café was a finalist in the Consumers Choice for Most Outstanding Café. The Praise Factory In association with Life Church (formally Celebration city church), The Praise Factory is a recording label that is dedicated to collecting, recording and distributing fresh praise and worship songs. Phil has produced all five albums released by The Praise Factory, the latest being “Connected”, comprising a selection of songs collected from churches in the Hunter Valley, and featuring musicians and singers from a cross section of church backgrounds. Hunter Harvest Phil Tweed is the musical director for Hunter Harvest – a combined churches evangelistic outreach. In 2003 Harvest broke all the attendance records at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre over four nights (28 000). Phil was musical director for Crystal Lewis, a top Christian artist from America and this year has been appointed to oversee all music for Harvest events. Musical Experience A highly accomplished pianist, keyboard player and vocalist, Phil also plays bass, drums, guitar and percussion. He has played with and supported many well known musicians and singers, including Shirley Bassey, Marcia Hines, Grace Knight, Mark Williams, Craig Calhoun and the Brothers of OZ, Pete Drummond (Vanessa Amerosi, Kasey Chambers, Joan Rivers), Dieter Kleemans, Jess Ciampa (Flying Fruit Flies, The Lion King), Phil Scorgie (Crossfire), Chris Soulos, Henry Seely, Emile Nelson, David Moyse (Air Supply), Renee Berger, Vince Martinelli, Chris Bathgate, Saxanova.
