Johnny Baker (8)

Jazz drummer, trombonist and vocalist from England. Baker began playing violin at school, followed by trombone at 16 and drums in his 20s. In 1962, he moved to New Orleans where he studied and played trombone and drums with jazz and blues acts. After returning to England, Baker led his own band on trombone for five years until he was offered the role of drummer in The New Iberia Stompers. This stint was followed by tour in Germany supporting trumpeter Colin T. Dawson. Back in the UK, he joined Ken Sims' Dixie Kings on drums for eight years. During this time, he also joined The Hugh Rainey Jazz Band on drums. He has also played drums for Brian White's King Jazz and his own band Johnny Baker's Joymakers.
