Joakim lived and worked at the town of Groningen (Netherlands) but quit his job in january 2000, hopped on a plane and flew towards a new career as a musician at the start of the milennium. He worked as a piano-entertainer in Switzerland, Norway, Germany and Denmark, ended up in the dutch duelling-piano club “Crazy Piano’s” to meet up with collegues like Jan Rooymans and Roel van Velzen. After an instructive time in this place, Joakim felt he had to travel again. At this time, contracts were signed for USA and the Caribbean. In 2005 Joakim relocated in Holland and founded his company Silverbell Entertainment with his wife Marjon, to sell the duelling-piano concept and other piano-acts. With all this treasure of experiences, collected during travelling, Joakim decided to record an album in 2009. Producer and friend Jan Rooymans, working fulltime at Soundwise studio’s in Amsterdam, was asked to be in charge of the process. During an exclusive concert of dutch folkband 3j’s, Joakim got acquainted with guitarist Jaap Kwakman who offered him to make demo’s for the album at their studio in Volendam. Very soon a number of enthousiastic top-shelf musicians were willing to contribute to the songs of Joakim, which resulted in an impressive line-up: Ton Dijkman (3j’s, Marco Borsato) took care of the entire album’s drumtracks, bassplayers Rinus Gerritsen (Golden Earring) Whynot Jansveld (Gavin Degraw) and Carlos Lake (ex-Anouk, ex-vanVelzen) as well as Jaap Kwakman, playing Mandolin and Guitar, were encountered. Percussion on several tracks played by Mike Schaperclaus (Metropole Orchestra, Paul de Leeuw) and a very special feature by triple-worldchampion whistling, Geert Chatrou on “Summersong”. This and more makes “Drifting” to a unique document, ten original songs, each one in it’s own style. Together they tell the story of Joakim Peter: a drifter? Late-developer? By any means a musician in heart and soul.
