James M. Fulton

American composer, arranger, conductor, and music educator (1873–1940). Working as a band conductor for many years, Fulton became known for composing marches, such as the "Associated Press March" (1897) and the "Battleship Connecticut March" (1908). He wrote waltzes, polkas, overtures, schottisches, reveries, and cakewalks as well, but among his more than 245 compositions, more than 144 are marches. At some point, Fulton also founded his own music publishing company.
