Boubacar Faye alias Vieux Mac Faye or Vieux Faye is a Senegalese blues and jazz guitarist. He was born in a family full of talented musicans (He is the brother of Adama Faye, Habib Faye, Lamine Faye and Moustapha Faye, He learns his profession as an instrumentalist within the group Super Diamono De Dakar. Passionate about jazz, blues and riti (a traditional African violin), he launched a new style called: joolof blues. It's a mix of jazz and traditional African music. During his youth,he took his inspiration listening to musicians such as guitarists Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, BB King and John Lee Hooker. Old Mac Faye took on his own to learn and play the riti, a one-string Fulani violin. He also likes to jam with his two younger brothers Lamine and Habib. The latter will play later respectively with the Super Diamono of Omar Pène and the Super Étoile of Youssou N'Dour. From 1980, Vieux Mac Faye improves his instrumental techniques by playing the guitar in hotels and clubs in Dakar, the Senegalese capital. In 1985, he formes his first group, the Sabar Tam with the blind percussionist Pape Niang. He also participates as guitarist and arranger in several albums by Ismaël Lô and Cheikh Lô. In 1989, Vieux Mac Faye crreate the group Mac Ténor Band made up of five musicians including his brother Adama Faye. In 1992, he comes out with his very first album "Ainsi Va La Vie". A year later, he records a solo album with mbalax accents which is titled Diongama Ya Taru, In 2003, the artist participates in the creation of a music school which aims to contribute to the promotion of Senegalese musical culture by training in the playing of traditional instruments: such as kora, djembe, sabar and balafon. September 2005, Vieux Mac Faye returns with the album: Everything with him - nothing without him. A work composed of eight titles speaking of God with various rhythms: blues, jazz, salsa and mbalax. In 2011, Vieux Mac Faye do a remix of Ben E. King's song "Stand by me" by adding Senegalese sounds. In December 2016, he releases the album "Le blues du juge"
