Oriki Tabala

Oriki Tabalá is a musical group created in the 90s by several young Palenqueros who met in a corner of the Cho Pacho neighborhood to practice music and dance. Professor Sebastián Salgado gathered every week the restless young people of the town, in an informal music and dance school, where young musicians such as Stevenson Padilla, Bernandino Perez, José Valdez Paito, Andru Valdes, Enrique Marquez and more young apprentices of traditional Palenquero music attended. From this workshop group were born songs like the ones here in this first EP of the Oriki Tabalá group in its history. Great classics like Negro Venido del Mar, a composition by Sebastián Salgado, and other musical themes present in this EP show us an authorial and experimental music, which rehearses new paths in the renewal of Palenquera and Afro-Colombian music. https://palenquerecords.bandcamp.com/album/oriki-tabala-el-negro-americano
