Wax Idols were created as a band in England in the late 1970's, three punk schoolmates, Alan Tiller, Budge Magraw and Kevin Bartlett as a school punk trio. In later years, Budge Magraw carried on to become a professional musician, using the name Wax Idols as an ongoing project throughout the 1990's and early 2000's making punk music to shock with... 1999 saw the Wax Idols re-form in London with Budge Magraw at the helm on vocals and bass, and musicians such as Andrew Green on drums, Daniel Stevenson on guitar, brass section and gigs around Londons pubs, making their raucous blend of punk and psychedelic rock. In 1999 they were signed to Chicago (USA) label "Veronica Records" who released the Wax Idols track "Julie Was A Boy" in 2000 on the various artists album "Songs For The Prom" Julie Was A Boy, written by Budge Magraw, was a true story of befriending and sticking up for a young lad he worked with in a paint workshop, the young lad was still coming to terms with changing gender and his name to Julie, so Budge looked out for him (her) while she worked there. There is now an American band called Wax Idols, but if you know where to look in London, England, in a dark and dangerous night haunt, you might just bump into the vicious dirty punks that are the real Wax Idols.....approach with caution ;-)
