Larry Aldrich is a retired PR and Marketing Executive, former VP of Hill & Knowlton (1978-1981), VP of N.W. Ayer (1981-1984) and Founder & President of Los Angeles based Aldrich & Associates, Inc. (1984-2012). He began his career in public relations with The United States Air Force in 1968, transitioning from a journalism career as staff writer and columnist with The Ocean County Daily Observer in New Jersey. Larry was involved in U.S. Drum & Bugle Corps, starting in the early 1960s marching two New Jersey corps. Together with his wife he started the Velvet Knights parent/support organization In the late 70’s, which led to his involvement with Drum Corps International (DCI). Larry was the first civilian (non corps director) elected to the DCI Board of Directors, was on the executive committee, and took on responsibility for the Site Selection committee and the effort to secure sponsorship with The Walt Disney Company. He also started the DCI Marketing Advisory Committee, the Friends of DCI Volunteer of the Year award, and chaired the Executive Director search committee. He retired from DCI in the mid 90s and joined the Board and Advisory Board of the Blue Devils Performing Arts. In the 80s and 90s Larry took care of the liner notes on the yearly releases of the DCI Championships albums. In the late 2000s Larry retired from everything including Aldrich & Associates.
