Anton Maiden

Swedish singer, born 24 February 1980 in Kinna, Västergötland, died 1 November 2003 in Borås, Västergötland. Swedish Iron Maiden fan who achieved Internet stardom after recording numerous MIDI and MOD cover versions (complete with vocals) of the band's classic songs. The recordings were initially shared among a small group of friends, who would then encourage him to make them available to the public. He appeared on Swedish national TV multiple times and was featured in various newspapers worldwide. Speaking with Swedish newspaper Expressen in 2000, he stated that Iron Maiden fans "think that my interpretations are a disgrace to Iron Maiden. But that was never my intent." Anton died by suicide in November 2003.
