Brian Wilde

English actor who was born in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Lancashire, 13th June 1927, and died in Ware, Hertfordshire, 20th March 2008. He was best known for his roles in television comedy, and was a long-standing cast member of Porridge, The Dustbinmen, and Last Of The Summer Wine. He also made appearances in Hancock, The Sweeney, and The Avengers, as well as numerous films between the 1950s and late-1970s.
