The Sixpence (2)

Band from Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Formed by six High School Graduates attending Elizabethtown Community College. In 1967, they entered a Battle of the Bands competition sponsored by WAKY Radio (Louisville, Kentucky) and were selected as one of the top 10 bands. Their prize was to record a song on an album, so the band members wrote and recorded "Gotta Girl". The band broke up a year after when some of the members moved on to the main campus of the University of Kentucky. Band members were: Eddie Burgess - Vocals and trumpet Harry Tate - Vocals, trumpet and keyboard Jimmy Polley - Drums John Bates - Bass guitar Doug Horne - Guitar Ken Toczko - Guitar.
