Rose Chan

Famous stripper, dancer and cabaret performer. b. Soochow 1925 - d. Penang 1987. Born in China but came to Kuala Lumpur as a child in 1931. Became a singer at Happy World in Singapore during the 1940s after a failed marriage. Won a Miss Singapore contest in 1950. Developed her striptease routine when in her 20s and became known as "Queen of Striptease". Had a long and controversial stage career during which she appeared in Singapore and travelled throughout Malaya and elsewhere. Her only known recording was made sometime in the1960s.
