Dagna Silesia is the stage name of an American luthier, guitar-maker, bassist, and backing vocalist, Dagna Barrera (b. 13 January 1979, Wrocław, Poland), currently based in Seattle, Washington. Working on guitars for over 20 years, Dagna established her company, Silesia Guitars, in 2013. She has recorded and performed with several bands, including Ghost Ship Octavius, Symphony North, and Locistellar. Dagna Plebanek grew up in Poland, taking piano lessons in childhood, and began playing in bands at 12 after moving to Sweden. In 1996, she was a vocalist in Cryptic Art, appearing on the band's demo tape, In The Fog Of Frustration. She graduated from the Rytmus Music Gymnasium in 1998. Dagna then relocated to the United States and studied at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, Arizona, graduating in 2000. She apprenticed with luthier Michael Dolan in Santa Rosa, California, before joining Parsons Guitars in Kirkland, Washington, where she worked from 2002 to 2009. Dagna was also an instructor for Alvarez Guitars in Woodinville, WA. As a prolific musician, Dagna Silesia played bass in several metal and prog-rock bands, including Elsesphere (1999–2000), The People Now, and Ghost Ship Octavius (2013–201?). She toured with Warrel Dane's solo project (2009–2010) and Nevermore (2011), made guest appearances with Uli Jon Roth, and played on the 70k tons of Metal Cruise fest in 2018 and at ProgPower USA festival. Dagna Silesia recorded bass for Beltfed Weapon's latest release, Darkened Demise EP, released in June 2023.
