Scottish composer/musician/producer Paul Quinn has had a wide and varied career from his early years as part of the fledgling “Bellshill Movement” that is still much revered around the world, to the heady days of The Soup Dragons & Teenage Fanclub. Quinn joined Scottish band “The Soup Dragons” in his role as drummer, just in time to make his debut on the worldwide hit “I’m Free”, a cover of The Rolling Stones b - side, that saw them acknowledged internationally. Follow up hits included Divine Thing, nominated for an MTV Video award alongside Nirvana’s “ Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Red Hot Chilli Peppers “Under The Bridge” in a year that also saw The Soup Dragons nominated for a Grammy Moving on from The Soup Dragons in 1993 and joining fellow Glaswegians Teenage Fanclub. Playing on the bands Grand Prix, Songs From Northern Britain & Howdy albums during there most critically acclaimed and successful period. Paul was a credited songwriter on the Teenage Fanclub/Jad Fair collaboration album “Songs of Wisdom & Hope. Following his departure from Teenage Fanclub in 2000 he found his creative process had moved on from not only adding to other writers compositions from behind the kit, but to composing, producing and performing on his own compositions under the alias of The Primary 5, he went on to release three self penned albums North Pole (2004) on his own Bellbeat Music label, “Go” (2006) on Re-Action Records & “High Five (2008) on Neon Tetra Records. All 3 Primary 5 albums have since been reissued on vinyl “North Pole” on Sugarbush Records, “Go” on Pretty Olivia Records and “High Five” on Hurrah/Snap records Paul continues to write & produce and is currently working on a batch of new compositions since touring with Teenage Fanclub during their sell out “Creation Years” 2018 UK tour promoting Sony Records vinyl reissues. Paul produced Alan McGee signing Alias Kid debut album “Revolt To Revolt” released via Cherry Red Records and produced Honeyblood record store release “No Big Deal/ The Black Cloud released on FatCat Records, Catholic Action, Sienna, Daniel Paris. Paul is published via 23rd Precinct/Notting Hill Music/Kobalt Music publishing
