Intake was born and raised in, entertainment-wise, one of the most fertile areas of the United States, the New York City metropolitan area. They hail from northern New Jersey, which puts them right in between the well-respected NYC scene and the ever-growing south Jersey scene. With such acts as Type O Negative, Life Of Agony, and recently signed Ill Nino, this area is known for producing great musical acts and is a focal point for A&R reps. The scene is evolving into one of the premier scenes of the country. Originally, Intake was formed in late 1999, with a four-piece line-up. Gaining experience in the recording studio as well as the local scene itself (playing with big NJ acts like Ill Nino, Among Thieves, and Stereo Mud) they decided it was time to realign. With the addition of a second guitarist and new lead singer, Intake has matured into a five-piece heavy metal force to be reckoned with. In late 2000 they hooked up with producer Mike Jackson and recorded their debut full-length album, "The Insurgence" which is due out for public release in June of 2001. The album was recorded at Rhyme, Rhythm and Reason in East Rutherford, NJ and at Digital Mobile in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Intake has been creating a buzz in NJ and on the Internet. Their website, intake1.com, averages over 700 hits a month. They released two songs, "Hole" and "Hard to Live" on MP3.com and saw them rise into the top 100 on the heavy metal charts within a week. Intake is constantly promoting and letting everyone know that they are coming full-force like a Mac Truck. As of late Intake has been playing shows here and there, and every time they play their audience grows. Demand for their debut album "The Insurgence" is getting more and more intense, and their crowd is growing every time they play. The buzz has begun and Intake seeks to capitalize on that buzz and become one of the premier bands on the scene. Intake brings an energy-packed show with non-stop intensity. Their thick rhythms, heavy grooves, energetic leads and intense vocals combine to make Intake an ear-catching experience that you can't mistake. When this band hits the stage, heads turn.
