Dimitris Paksoglou is a tenor. He was born in Piraeus. He is a graduate of the Athenaeum Conservatory (classes of Costas Paschalis and Marina Krilovic and The Veakis Higher School of Drama. As an actor he collaborated with many major theater companiess (National Theater - Theatro Technis, etc.) He won First Prize at the International Classic Song Competition in Athens (S.H.M.O.) Second Prize in Panhellenic Classic Song Competition in Thessaloniki and honorary distinctions in the international competitions "Maria Callas" (Athens) and "Elena Obraztsova" (St Petersburg). He first appearance was as Creon (Oedipus the King/Edipo Re, Leoncavallo) at the Opera of Thessaloniki. Abroad, his first appearance was as Don Jose (Carmen/Carmen) in Bari and as Radamès (Aida) in Stade de France (Paris, 2010). He participated in the European premiere of the opera The Portrait by Weinberg at the Opera National de Lorraine in Nancy (France). In July 2011 he performed as a guest soloist an the Radio France Festival in Montpellier. He sang the roles of Turiddu (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Araquil (La Navarraise) at the Opera Saint Etienne. He is a founding member of the Oper(O) group, with whom he sang the role of Alfredo in La traviata (2010). He sang in the opera Carmen at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall (2014) and the role of Midas in the operetta The Beautiful Galatea (Die Schöne Galathée), presented as a co-production between the GNO and the Athens Chamber Opera (2008/09). At the GNO he first appeared in 2011 and from 2012 he is a permanent member of its cast. He participated in five opera productions, singing the roles of Gustavo (Riccardo) [A Masked Ball/Un ballo in maschera], Count Danilo Danilovitsch (The Merry Widow/Die lustige Witwe), Chevalier des Grieux (Manon Lescaut), Eisenstein (The Bat/Die Fledermaus) and Macduff (Macbeth).
