Merudia

Merudia is a Bulgarian band based in Sofia. They play reggae and mix African rhythms with Bulgarian elements. Merudia band is actually a sextet. Nikolai Bakalov plays on the drums, Petar Todorov is on the percussions and, Vesselin Yovtchev plays the guitar. Kristina Serafimova is their front woman and Yoana Ivanova is on the bass guitar. The sixth member of the band Hristian Goergiev plays the shepherd’s flute, as well as the key-flute (melodica), so they have the typical reggae sounds too. Thanks to the shepherd’s flute the music compositions acquire a slight folklore sounding. Their music also contains hip-hop. Hristian Georgiev is in charge of this style. He has been making experiments for a long time through mixing both styles (reggae and hip-hop).
