Настоящее имя: Gil Harris
Об исполнителе:
Gil Harris was from Nelson on the South Island of New Zealand. Encouraged by the success of his boyhood friend, Tex Morton, Gil moved to Australia to start a career in country music. He recorded 4 tracks for Regal Zonophone on 12 May 1939. A talented yodeller (in the style of Goebel Reeves), he was billed as the Whispering Yodeller, and the recordings, which included fine versions of ‘True Blue Gil’ and ‘The Hobo’s Meditation’, suggested that he had a great future as a country singer. However, soon after making the recordings, he was offered a post with job security outside the music industry. Realizing the unreliability of the financial side of life as a singer, he accepted the post and consequently disappeared from the music scene.
