Born March 25, 1903 in San Francisco, California, USA Died March 22, 1978 in Los Angeles, California, USA Composer, songwriter, conductor, organist and producer, educated at the American Conservatory, and an organ student of Edward Lemare. He was the assistant director of the Broadway revue "Passing Show of 1918", and and organist and conductor in theatre circuits, and later a producer. He moved to Honolulu in 1932 and became a theatre manager, also organizing USO camp shows. In Hawaii, he served as president of the Honolulu Musicians Union for nine years, and served two terms on the Labor Commission for the Territory and he chaired the National Music Week committee there for three years. He broadcast his own radio program for nine years, and in 1943 he became music counselor to a Hollywood film studio, then executive head to the music department. Joining ASCAP in 1945, his chief musical collaborators included Irving Bibo, Al Piantadosi, and Jack Meskill. His popular-song compositions included "Merrily We Sing", "Walkin' Away with My Heart", "Walk a Little, Talk a Little", "Do You Believe in Dreams?", "You Love Me, You Love Me Not", "Tropic Trade Winds", "The Day You Said Goodbye to Old Hawaii", "Fight for Old Hawaii" (University of Hawaii song), and "Mainstreet Rhapsody".
