American bluegrass instrumentalist (mandolin, banjo), tenor vocalist and songwriter from Richmond, Kentucky. Barnes began playing in a family band as a child with his father, Earl Barnes, and brother, Randall Barnes. He has since played and recorded with the Charlie Sizemore Band, Continental Divide, Pine Mountain Railroad, Katie Penn, and Dean Osborne, among others.
