Gustav Gröndahl

Swedish cellist, born 6 November 1907 in Köping parish in Västmanland county, died 13 February 1991 in Västerled parish in Stockholm. He studied at the Stockholm Conservatory of Music 1924-1929 and for Maurice Maréchal in Paris and Enrico Mainardi in Rome. He was employed in the Royal Court Orchestra in 1934 and was concertmaster there in 1941-1957. From 1941 he was a member of the Candle Quartet. He was a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music 1948–1973. Gustav Gröndahl was elected as a member 693 of the Royal Academy of Music on December 15, 1960 and was named professor in 1964.
