From San Francisco, California, USA, James Conner has been writing, recording, and performing music in the Bay Area since 2003. Originally from New Jersey, James moved to San Francisco in 2003 and released "James Conner: For The Industry EP", featuring fast electronic music and spoken-word vocals. The subsequent full-length CD, "James Conner: A Year In The Light Of My Life" (2007) mixed elements of Aphex Twin, Nine Inch Nails, and David Bowie into a dark fusion of brooding angst. In 2012, James returned with his second full-length CD, the indie rock tinged "San Francisco (Good-night In Dreamland)". Here, James delivers a cohesive blend of indie, 90’s alternative, and some elements of jazz. To capture these songs, James recorded with Nic Pope for a year at Different Fur Studios in the Mission. James enlisted Nathan Bennet on guitar and Alex Aguallo on drums to round out a powerful trio - and to bring ‘San Francisco’ to the stage. James is best known for his almost assault-like self promotion campaign in 2014/2015 - aimed mostly at posting (and responding) to Craigslist adds all over the United States. This effort to promote himself and his new 7" single "Sexy Little Kitten", was moderately successful. The single was recorded at Lennon Studios in San Francisco and mixed at his usual stomping ground, Different Fur Studios. His music is just as in-your-face and diligent as his self promotion: blending pop sensibilities with the experimental sides of rock & jazz - and pushing the boundaries of musical standards to an almost breaking point. The songs are a rhythmic, meditative, on-time, vulgar, and sexy time capsule of San Francisco during his/their heyday. At the end of 2016, he disappeared from the eyes and ears of the musical world. Did he burn fast and shine bright? Or is he simply hibernating, re-fueling, and planning his great return? Only time and Craigslist will tell.
