Pavel Cal

Since graduating from Berklee in 1997 Pavel Cal established himself as one of the most active guitarists in the music scene in Mexico. He also taught at the Academy of Music Fermatta, and performed as an outstanding clinician for TC Electronic and Paul Reed Smith. His credits as a guitarist, arranger and producer include Juan Gabriel, Kalimba, Alejandra Guzman and Sin Bandera among others. As a jazz musician, he has performed at various festivals including Mexico City, Rhode Island, Boston, Puerto Rico, Monterrey and Uruguay. Under the concept of "Atl Skies", the jazz guitar trio led by Pavel Cal, conceives an amalgam of various music styles and rhythms. At the same time he creates a space for interaction, improvisation, simplicity in the complex and originality of his compositions and textures which sometimes makes an allegory of his Mexican identity.
