Meja Beckman

Singer songwriter/artist Meja signed her first deal with BMG in 1992, for the garage house project Legacy of Sound, together with Anders Bagge. She signed with Sony Music in 1995 and her first solo album "Meja" was released 1996. It became a big success in Japan with sales up to a million units. Her follow up album "Seven Sisters" included the world wide hit song " All ´bout the Money" In 1999 she recorded the beautiful duet "Private Emotion" with Ricky Martin. The video was shot in LA directed by Francis Lawrence. Next album released 2001 " Realitales" Meja turned musically into a more rock experimental pop way. The album cover and photos shot by director Jonas Åkarlund showed a new image. She wrote " Hippies in the 60`s with Billy Steinberg and Marti Frederiksen and continued to collaborate with Douglas Carr, who produced the 3 first solo albums. In 2005 the soft jazz bossanova flavoured album "Mellow" was released. It was produce by Hamish Stuart ( The Average White Band) with the best musicians around in the London music scene. 2006 Meja moved back to Los Angeles and started working on " Urban Gypsy" an pop electronica album produced by Martin Landquist (NAID) with songs like "Don't look down written with legendary Billy Gibbons ( ZZTop) and Music Hall of Fame writer Jeff Barry amongst others.The album was released thru Sony 2009, but was reversed and re released 2010. At this time Mej also recorded a special album for Sony Music Japan, where Meja was the first artist to sing legendary Studio Ghibli Soundtracks in english. The album was named " AniMeja" and she sang the popular soundtracks from " Spirited Away" My Neighbour Totoro" and " Ponyo Ponyo" In 2013 she collaborated with Ebbot Lundberg ( The Soundtrack of Our Lives) and a single was released called " Blame it on the Shadows" followed by an acoustic americana flavoured album called " Stroboscope Sky" released 2015. The album was produced by young talented Nicolas Günthardt and holds the song "Yellow Ribbon". The song was specially written to fight the injustice of a man named Albert Woodfox, who had spend 43 years in Solitary Confinement at Angola State Penitentiary in Louisiana. Meja got involved thru Amnesty International and Free the Angola 3. She spent two years of actively working on the call for Woodfox Freedom and so it happened. There was a Yellow Ribbon Freedom Remixes EP released with participants like Deep Forest, NORD, Gota Yashiki, DF Tram, DJ Swami etc. In 2017 Meja was introduced to a group of musicians who would later be the band " Peace Conspiracy" They recorded and released their first EP in 2018 with one original song " Peace Love and Understanding" and their versions of classical song like " With a little help from my friends" and Led Zeppelins " Whole Lotta Love" At the same time she started recording songs for her upcoming 25 year Anniversary album called " Kozmic Surfer" that was released in Japan in July 2019, and that will be released world wide in fall of 2020. The first single out was the melancholy pop song " Todays and Tomorrows" released in december 2019 followed by the newly written single " Strange Kinda Love" to be released June 17.
