Will Clay

Musician from Dallas, Texas. He was born March 28, 1955, in Evanston, Illinois and moved to Dallas at age 11. He began playing with bands in the mid-1970s, playing saxophone and synthesizers in several New Wave and punk bands in Dallas. He formed the band The Toys in 1976, moving on to play with Snakes and then The Telefones from 1979 to 1981. After he was fired from The Telefones, he joined Red Tapes and co-founded The Potatoes in 1987. Clay left Potatoes in 1990, moving to Minnesota to attend rehab, then spending time in Seattle before returning to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1992. Clay died in Minnesota on December 21, 1998 at age 43.
