He won the Croix De Guerre medal for heroism during WWI, and became a prisoner of war. At the armistice, he returned home and composed music for the "pre-talkies" cinema in his city. Eventually, he moved to Paris for the rest of his life, where he continued composing, and also became a music journalist. From 1914 to 1928 he composed nearly 90 pieces of chamber music, for voice, piano, and grand orchestra, all submitted to the Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs starting in 1923 and which most will be published. His piano composition "Le soir descend sur la tranchée" won him a special mention by the 1924 SALON jury. Until 1932 his compositions are regularly played in Paris and abroad. Then, as a music critic, he founded the magazine Courrier Musical, and went on to the publications Art Musical, La Musique Française, Journal Des Débats, Information Musical, and L'Illustration. After WWII, he turned to writing analyses for concerts and festivals all over France, which numbered over 4,000 programs.
