Norman Painting

Norman Painting was a British actor, broadcaster and writer, best known for playing Phil Archer in The Archers from the radio show's beginning in 1950 until his death in 2009. He also wrote around 1200 scripts for the show under the pseudonym "Bruno Milna" until artistic differences with the BBC management in 1982. In 1976, he was awarded the OBE for services to broadcasting. Born: 23rd April 1924 in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England. Died: 29th October 2009 in Warmington, Warwickshire, England at the age of 85 from heart failure.
