Margaret Manning

American vocalist from Brooklyn, New York City. Born c.1925. She sang lead on "The Old Devil Moon" by Charlie Spivak & His Orchestra. She also recorded one 45: "Until We Kiss Again" / "I'll Remember You" on Silver Leaf Records (SL-1 2 0 2) in July of 1961. She got her start as (possibly) the first girl messenger (or "messengerettes"), to replace boys who had entered the armed services during the second world war (1942). Mercury hired her when she was 17 and still in high school in the Bronx, New York City. She later was part of a Stylecraft Record Co., a company that recorded songs for labels.
