H. P. Vibbert

Born in Cumberland County Kentucky, Rev. Hansel P. Vibbert (1916-1986) came to Evansville, Indiana in 1952. There, he founded the Calvary Temple Church which first met in his home. From that humble beginning grew one of the largest churches in the Assembly of God denomination, featuring local radio and television broadcasts in addition to the regular services. Rev. Vibbert also composed Gospel songs, and two of his sons--Dave and Ron--founded the Gospel quartet "The Trailsmen" in 1964, all members of which were active members of Calvary Temple Church. Also coming out of his church were Joe Pyle and Bruce Burklow who formed the group "Daystar," which issued an album entitled 'Dedicated.'
