Shiru (previously Shiru Otaku, and DJ Uranus; born March 12, 1981), also known as shiru8bit or shiru1bit, is a Russian programmer, music composer and game developer living in Moscow, Russia. As a programmer, Shiru, who has been a programmer since 1994, has programmed in a variety of programming languages, and for a variety of platforms. For example, Shiru has programmed sound, tools and games, doing so for several years. As a music composer, Shiru, who has been a music composer since 1997, usually composes electronic music, usually low tech and video game-related music using emulation of old computers and low end synthesizers. Examples of things Shiru has made, many of which are music-related, include, but are not limited to, demoscene productions, software utilities, VSTi plugins and SoundFonts. Shiru has competed with music in competitions since 2002, and programs since 2008.
