Lars af Malmborg

Swedish conductor and former director of Kungliga Operan, born February 2, 1932, died January 27, 2022. After studies in Stockholm and Italy, Malmborg joined the Royal Theater in 1956, where he was conductor in 1961–76. He was principal of the State School of Music Drama 1968–73, a position he returned to in 1976. He was then head of the Royal Theater 1984–87 and professor of musical theater dramaturgy at the Opera Academy 1991–92. In 1984 he was elected as member number 853 of the Royal Academy of Music.
