Blanco Flake was a prominent Puerto Rican rapper and singer during the 90s who was instrumental in the formation and popularization of the Reggaeton genre. Blanco saw his start as an artist singing in the clubs and shows around 1992. At that time, these sessions were not recorded or produced into actual albums or productions. During that time, we would sing alongside the famous duo Maicol y Manuel. He would appear in the first recorded production of The Noise (The Noise: Original Underground) alongside the duo in 1994. He would further cement himself as a popular artist in the underground scene, being featured in numerous productions throughout 1994 through 1997 including the likes of Dj Playero (in the famous Playero series) where he made regular appearances, Dj Eric (in the infamous La Industria series), and other independent producers/productions. Besides appearing in numerous productions during the time, he would also become famous through his live sessions which he participated in. He would sing on the last day of the club The Noise before its closure along with other artists including Daddy Yankee, Mexicano, Falo, and others. In 1997, Blanco was arrested for murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison. While in prison, he would appear in different productions, where he would sing through the prison's phone. He preceded Tempo, who would do it later on. His release date was expected to be in March of 2007. A month prior to his release, somebody injected Blanco with various drugs including rat poison. As a result, he would pass away on February 11, 2007. To this day, Blanco Flake is considered one of the greatest artists to appear during the underground scene who would transform the genre to what it is currently.
