American vocalist from the big band era, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin Flaherty's professional career started a week before her 18th birthday, when she replaced Doris Day at the Hollywood Palladium as a vocalist with the Les Brown And His Band Of Renown. She also sang with Harry James, appeared in television and movies, and made recordings with Les Brown, Harry James, Herbie Fields and Billy Butterfield. She married Richard C. Roberts in 1950, and retired from show business with the exception of some live guest appearances.
