Hiba Tawaji is a multi-talented singer, performer, actress & director born in Beirut Lebanon on December 10, 1987. She has a four-octave vocal range, interprets oriental & occidental music & is trilingual (Arabic, English & French). She graduated from the Saint Joseph University of Beirut, IESAV, where she majored in audio-visual and cinematographic studies, earning her B.A in 2012. Her short movie “The rope” has been in the official selection in many film festivals around the world, winning 3 awards until now: ZUMEFF (Abu Dhabi), Outbox (Lebanon), NDU (Lebanon). She then enriched her education within the topnotch acting and singing workshops in New York City, where she spent 4 weeks at “New York Film Academy’s” musical theater workshop and then enrolled for 4 months at “Stella Adler Studio of Acting”. Her vocal lessons were imparted by the most recognized coaches of Jazz, Gospel and Pop in New York. Her artistic career started in 2007 alongside the renowned & widely acclaimed Lebanese producer & composer Oussama Rahbani, son of the legendary Mansour Rahbani. Since 2007, she has landed the female lead in 4 musical plays (produced by Mansour Rahbani & Oussama Rahbani) and released 2 solo albums (accompanied by many music videos) of a uniquely rich musical genre, which mixed oriental with occidental music. Her albums topped the charts in Lebanon and many Arab countries, gaining critics’ & public’s acclaim due to the diversification of musical genres from classical Arabic to pop & jazz, with rich orchestrations & poetic arabic lyrics, all demarked & highlighted by Hiba’s unique vocal skills & interpretation. In 2015, Hiba Tawaji competed on the most viewed show across Europe, “The Voice France- Season 4” (TF1), seeking international opportunities & exposure and dreaming of a career in Europe as well. After the wide acclamation she received for her first performance on the show with a vast standing ovation of all 4 coaches and audience, her Arabic speaking albums topped charts (including iTunes) throughout the Arabic region and Europe (France, Slovakia, Belgium, Switzerland etc.…) Unanimously considered as one of the chief voices of the season, she managed to win the hearts and respect of the press and public who massively voted for her, leading her through to the semifinals, commanding she takes part on “The Voice Tour” which circuited the cities of France with massive audience turnouts, landing the most prominent stages exemplified by the notorious Zénith de Paris, and settling at Lebanon’s “Jounieh International Festival”. The media named her the “Mermaid of Beirut”; and she has been featured in many European print media (Paris Match, Gala, Le Figaro, Le Parisien, Metro News, Voici, etc.…) and on various prominent TV shows (Canal + “La nouvelle edition”, D8 “Touche pas a mon poste” etc.…) Hiba Tawaji also succeeded to grasp the attention of the famous international record label “Universal Music France” (Mercury) with whom she is currently collaborating on an international album to be out soon...
