Australian musician (violin, saxophone), comedian, singer, actor and voice actor. Born: May 14, 1907 in Melbourne, Australia - Died: August 27, 1995 in Melbourne, Australia. Studied violin for eight years and while still at school was a member of The Feetwarmers band (which recorded as The Beachcombers in 1930). Later played with Cec Fraser's Orchestra and Art Chapman's Band in early 1930s. Appeared in the film "A Ticket In Tatts" while with Chapman. In mid-1930s began working as a vocalist in musical shows (was in the JCW production off "The Cingalee" opposite Gladys Moncrieff) and also began working as a comedian (including impressions of Noel Coward). Moved to Sydney in March 1937, and in 1938 left for England. In London teamed up with fellow Australian George Moon for double act which appeared on stage and also broadcast on the BBC and Radio Luxembourg. Sang with Peter Yorke and Jo Loss bands. Returned to Australia in 1940 playing in JCW shows in Sydney and ABC variety shows including "Out Of The Bag". Joined the Colgate-Palmolive unit in August 1944. Toured New Guinea to entertain Australian troops in 1945. Returned to England in June 1947 and again worked for BBC including the popular programme "Take It From Here" with Australian singer Joy Nichols and Jimmie Edwards (1949-1960). During season breaks returned to Australia for ABC programmes including "Gently Bentley" (1951, 1955 & 1966). Later worked in films & television.
