Peter Casanova

Swiss teacher, singer and musician, composer, politician (born 1930, died 2003). He grew up in Vrin (Lugnez, Grisons), became teacher. He got a job as teacher, first in Rüdlingen, then in Schaffhausen around 1960, and became also leader of the Stadtjodler Schaffhausen at that time. He lead several choirs of the Schaffhausen region. In 1974 he received the award "Goldener Violinschlüssel". In 1995, after retirement as a teacher, he moved to Scharnachtal (Bernese Oberland) where he found the guesthouse "Engelberg", the ideal place for "Stubete" (jam sessions for folk musicians). In the years 1969 until 1988 he was also active as a politician in the parliament of Schaffhausen.
