Jylt

The JYlt story started in1989 when Sarah moved into the house five doors up from Nia. The two soon became inseparable and enjoyed many years of playing with dolls in their specially formed nursery (don't ask!) Before long, the impending doom of secondary school made them dump their dolls for fear of humiliation and instead turned to writing soppy love songs around the piano. Meanwhile, in the alien world of boys, Tim and Alex had just swapped their action men for cigarettes in a vain attempt to look hard! Nia and Sarah continued to wear out the word 'love' under the name Narcisse (ahem) and went for their first public performance with considerable and admirable confidence in the school assembly. These performances gained them attention for their surprisingly mature talent for song writing. Girls dropped in and out of the band giving the founder members (the lead vocalists) the chance to swap keyboards for guitars, and love songs for rock songs. This was done with the help of Alex and Tim; Alex's catchy, lively guitar riffs and Tim's drumming ability (which had astounded onlookers and musicians before he could spell) sparked the mix and JYlt was born. The band prove their competence by winning competitions such as 'Battle of the Bands', a compositional award, a Television slot, making a music video, winning a multi-track recording system through a national competition, supporting drug awareness gigs and much more. JYlt enthuses energy; their music is so appealing with ' …engaging riffs and kick-ass tunes…' They've done the Welsh circuit in Swansea, Cardiff and Lampeter. Not only do JYlt achieve results together but they also succeed through personal and individual effort. Nia was selected as Pembrokeshire's Best Artist and nominated for the Art Department's prize at the end of her A Levels. Sarah was designated for the Music Department prize at the end of hers. With three song writers in the band they have their fair share of artistic differences but through hard graft, blood and sweat, they end up with original songs, distinctive, harmonious vocals and, ' … a definite attraction …' you could call the JYlt mark.
